That's me on the right, with my longtime friend and goalkeeper Jake on the left. Backdropped, of course, by the beautiful CITYPARK.
Hello, MLS Now readers and listeners! I am thrilled to join you and so many other talented hosts and writers in this inaugural season of St. Louis City SC. I’ll do my best to add a genuine fan perspective from someone who fell in love with the game long before they ever had a home club to cheer for. It’s hard to write with any voice but the one you have, but my goal is to share with you how fans feel about the club, both collectively and individually.
A little bit about me - I grew up in South County to a household that lived and breathed soccer. My dad coached myself and my two older brothers in our youth leagues, and was an avid champion of youth soccer before that. I played through high school and a bit of club ball in college. I’ve always been a natural defender, and love breaking down the strategy of a back line more than an attack.
That being said, I’m not a tactical expert, and I don’t pretend to know all the ins and outs of MLS. Most of my soccer watching experience is a combination of the English Premier League and whatever mishmash of league rights ESPN+ can muster any given year. I believe the MLS is well on its way to establishing itself as a global force, and right now I feel a sense of optimism that City will be a contributor to that mission in short order.
I’m currently working on a robust piece about the beauty of the game - I can’t wait to share that with you soon.
But for now, I’m just glad to be a part of the team.
Talk soon!
