FC Dallas played their first game under interim manager Marco Ferruzzi. They made the trip to BC Place in Vancouver and lost 1-0 against the Vancouver Whitecaps. The goal came early in the game at the 20th minute after Dallas was unable to clear a loose ball in their half. Whitecaps' goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau made 7 saves to keep Dallas off the score sheet and even blocked a late penalty kick. (https://www.whitecapsfc.com/players/maxime-crepeau/match-log/)

The Lineup-

Ferruzzi made three changes to the starting eleven. Jimmy Maurer took over for Phelipe in goal, Nkosi Tafari was dropped with Bressan returning, and finally Brandon Servania was swapped out for Bryan Acosta.

Maurer and Bressan had both been out due to injuries. During their absence Dallas conceded 13 goals in a 5 game period. The veteran presence helped the defense to regain their lost composure. Despite the game being a 1-0 loss, it felt like a step in the right direction as they did not allow multiple goals as they had been. Maurer recorded 4 saves and Bressan had near perfect passing accuracy.

The Vancouver Goal-

Vancouver gained the lead at the 20th minute mark. Ema Twumasi blocked the first pass into the box. Unfortunately none of the Dallas players cleared the lose ball, it made it's way to Vancouver's Russell Teibert. Teibert had the time and space he needed to cross it to Brian White who headed it past Maurer and a Dallas defender for the lone goal.

Penalty Kick-

Dallas earned a penalty kick late in the game after Whitecaps' Patrick Metcalfe fouled Jader Obrian. Franco Jara stepped up the spot but his shot was easily blocked by Crepeau.

Dallas had another chance to level the game. Szabolcs Schon picked up the ball after a Whitecaps player headed it into his path. He crossed it low to Jara, who shot it over the goal.

The defense performed better but their failure to close down their opponent cost them another win. Ferruzzi will have some work to do with the club before their next game. Dallas will play against Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday, September the 29th. The game is set to start at 7:00PM at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
