Columbus's Six Game Unbeaten Streak Comes To An End

Friday night was a night to forget for the Columbus Crew. Yes, the field was not ideal, as it is shorter and narrower than most MLS fields, but the play on the field from the Crew was not good either. The defense, for the first time this season, looked lackluster, and just could not get anything right. NYCFC was able to take advantage of that, and put four past the Crew defense.

Takeaways

Crew Defense Looked Tired And Out Of It

It could be said that the Crew defense has been the bright spot for the team this season. But Friday night showed a different story. They looked out of it, and just did not look like themselves. Whether that was the amount of games played over the last couple of weeks, or the pitch, Friday night will prove to be a game the Crew will want to forget.

Crew Will Have To Have A Short Memory

Luckily for the Crew, they will not have to dwell on this bad loss for long, as they have two games in the upcoming week, beginning with DC United who visit Lower.com Field on Wednesday Night. A short memory will be necessary if the Crew want to get back to winning ways.

Recap

Really, as I have stated, this is a game for the Crew to forget. It was a game they just simply did not show up for. But Columbus can bounce back sooner than most teams have the opportunity to. They will also be getting striker Gyasi Zardes back after he won the Gold Cup should be big boost for the Crew.
